First Day of School

I am a little late in posting these pictures. The kids started school a couple weeks ago. I can't believe how fast the summer went. Trey is a Sophomore at a brand new High School. Lauren is in 7th grade and Paige is in 3rd grade. The girls were excited about going back. Trey - wasn't. Can you believe he is driving now!! He has his permit and can only drive with his parents in the car. He is a good driver and very cautious. Anyway - enjoy the pictures.

Spring Break (or should I say - Winter break)

Wow! I am terrible at updating. I thought I would post some pictures from our Spring Break. We spent some time up near Stanley. It was freezing cold, but we had a blast. They aren't in the order I want. But as you can see we had an easter egg hunt in the campground. Paige was so excited she took off running and tripped on a rock. She cut her hand pretty good.

Trey and Lauren Ballroom

The last few weeks have been busy with ballroom performances and competitions. We just returned from Salt Lake where Trey had a competition. We had a lot of fun. I spent 11 hours at the event. Wade spent some time at Cabela's since the competition was 2 minutes from there. Trey received a 4th place ribbon and a 3rd place medal for his team routines. Here are some pictures from the performances. Sorry I only have one of Lauren - I will get more of her next time.

Paige's Baptism

I am very bad at updating this blog. I apologize to anyone who has visited lately. Here are some pictures from Paige's baptism. She was baptized on January 2nd. She was so excited. We had a wonderful turnout. We also woke up to a lot of fresh snow that blanketed the trees.

Lauren the Barbarian

Not sure if I should post this or not. While camping over the 4th Lauren discovered how much fun you can have with a BB gun. It started out with pop cans. She hit the can on her first shot. Then it moved onto birds, but I put a stop to that before she killed the Idaho state bird. The mountain bluebirds are everywhere up there. They have even placed bird houses on the posts for them to nest in. One night she came to our trailer with a blue bird in her hand. She opened up one of the houses, reached in and grabbed it.

Anyway, she then decided to hunt prairie dogs. They are actually a problem up there. They have dug holes in roads and caused lots of problems for the campground. Much to her brothers dismay, she harvested two prairie dogs. She spent a lot of time walking around with her BB gun. Who would of thought.

4th of July - camping and fishing at Henry's Lake

We spent 4 days camping at Henry's Lake of the 4th. The kids and I went and fished with Wade for a little bit and hooked around 5 fish. It was fun for all of us except Trey - he lost 3 of those 5 fish right before they got to the boat. Then Lauren hooked one on her own and landed it. His ego was crushed.

This picture is hilarious. Right as I was to take the picture of Lauren's first fish, it flopped out of Wade's hands and back into the water. The look on Wade's face tells it all. Amazingly, Wade grabbed the net and was able to net it right out of the lake. The next picture shows the excitement on Lauren's face. I should of got a picture of Trey who was pouting at the other end of the boat.

New York Pictures

Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity. If you are ever in New York, this is a must. We even sat in the same place as was filmed in the movie "Serendipity".
Columbus Circle. This is right on the corner of Central Park. Those are Wade's students in the background.

Alene and Lee in Times Square. It was about 0 degrees that night. Luckily, each day got warmer and warmer.

Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. This is my third trip to New York City, and I have to say that this was on of the funnest things I have done there. It was a beautiful day. We started off riding the subway to Brooklyn. Buying half price tickets for a broadway show. Having pizza at the famous Grimaldi's and then walking over the bridge into Manhattan.

Paige's 7th Birthday

Paige turned 7 on the 27th of December. We went to see Madagascar 2 and she got her ears pierced. She didn't even flinch. Here are some pictures and a video from her birthday.

Christmas 2008

Here are a few pictures from Christmas morning. We had a wonderful Christmas. We didn't do much this year but stick around home. The snow never stopped and then the wind was crazy. It was fun to be forced to stay home.Our Christmas tree before the kids got up. They woke up around 6:30 but left us alone until 7:45.Paige in her new snowpants playing with her doggy stroller.

The girls went down to Uncle Dante and Aunt Julie's to ride their pony. They sure had a lot of fun and wanted to go there every day afterwards.

Wade's dad passed away yesterday (sunday) at 1 a.m. after a valiant battle with cancer. He has been fighting cancer for about 6 months and we thought he had it beat until two weeks ago. His cancer just took over and he hung on for two more weeks. We moved our trailer down to their house and got to spend a lot of time visiting and helping Wade's mom. Hard to believe that he is not here, but we know he is needed elsewhere. I don't know of very many people that are as faithful as him. He was a stake patriarch and also a sealer at the temple. Wade will miss him terribly. He was his best friend. They are so much a like in many ways. I pray that cancer will not affect anyone else in our family. First my brother, and now Grandpa. You can view his obituary at postregister.com . It will be online probably tomorrow.

California Vacation

We had a great vacation to California this past summer. It was super crazy, but fun. We spent the first few days in Santa Monica and then went down to San Diego. We went to the Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade. The kids and I went shopping in Burbank while Wade went and visited DreamWorks. We went to Huntington Beach for a day. Trey was a fish out in the ocean. In San Diego we went to Sea World and the Comic Con. Comic Con is a huge convention for the Comic Book Industry and artists. I wish I had some pictures from it. There were many people dressed up as comic book characters.

Lauren celebrated her 10th birthday on June 13. 95% of her gifts were Webkinz. The rest were art related. As you can tell from the picture, Trey was a little jealous.

Kittens anyone?

Our cat had kittens! Well - it is technically the neighbors cat. This cat decided to take up residence at our house. It has been around for about 8 months. The father of these new kittens was our cat that disappeared about 3 weeks ago. Luckily this mama cat is house trained. We use to let it in the house during the winter. It snuck in the house a couple days ago and we forgot to let it out. When Lauren went to bed she heard puring from the closet. She went to get Tiger out and she found a baby kitten. She was inside of her toy box. Luckily she was laying on an apron. She did not want to come out even when we found all three kittens and made a nice bed. So, we took all the toys out and made her a nice bed in the toy box. She is the luckiest cat. Lauren has been loving her and the kittens like crazy. I actually think we have found homes for two of them. We shall see - but if you want a kitten - let me know.

I finally downloaded Wade's camera. Trey caught his first steelhead on our last trip fishing. He actually caught two, but the second one slipped out of his hands right when Wade was taking the picture.

Charging Station

I just made me this cute little charging station. I am tired of all the different places I have things charging. I just purchased a Photo Box at Porters (on sale - 2 for $5) and cut holes in it. I finished off the holes with this great big eyelets. There is a surge protector inside of the box with all the chargers plugged in. Anyway - I got the idea off the internet - wish I could claim it. Here is a picture of it.

Spring Steelhead Fishing

We just had a blast up near Stanley camping and fishing. We were up there last weekend for 4 days and this past weekend for 3 days. Wade will be leaving in the morning and be gone all week. It is his break in between semesters and he deserves a fun get away. I just wish the kids and I could be with him. It is so relaxing to get away and just hang out in the camper - fish a little - and relax in the hot springs. The weather hasn't been all that great up there. We woke up with ice on our windows and the temperature below zero. Our last night there, it wasn't so bad. It only got down to 13 degrees. Anyway - it was a lot of fun. We left our trailer up there and Wade's camera is in there. Trey hooked and landed two steelhead on our last day. Wade said that made his whole year. I will post those pictures next week. Here are some pictures of our trip. Paige is standing next to Wade's cousin Robert. He let her help him land that fish. The rest of the pictures are just of us having fun.

I went into Paige's room tonight and said to her "Paige - your room is so messy. We just cleaned it yesterday". With all seriousness, she said to me, "I know mom - I don't understand - it's like there are goblins messing my room up". Anyway - I thought it was cute.

I made this soup the other day and it was very good and easy. I love anything that I can put in the crockpot and forget about it. I didn't have any V8 juice, so I added two cups of water and 2 T of Wylers Beef Boulion granules. We like our soup brothy. I also added regular diced tomatoes instead of italian style. Wade even told me that it was as good as my Dad's soup. That is a huge compliment. Here is the link: Beef Vedgetable Soup

Well - I have decided that if I am going to have a blog, I better start posting stuff. I feel like that if I don't have a great picture to post, then I don't have anything to post. I am going to change that. I am going to start posting crafts, recipes, and things that are interesting to me. If you don't like it, then you don't have to look. Today I made a gift for a friend of mine. I thought I would take a picture of it so that I would have a record of it. Well here is a picture of the magnet board that I made for her. Her house if very vintage and I thought she might enjoy this. I made some for Lauren and Paige's room also. I also did Lauren and Paige's name for there room. Poor Trey - I never do anything crafty for him. So here are the crafty things that I have made recently. Enjoy.

The mighty hunters

First of all, I have to apolgize for not posting in such a long time. It seems with the holidays coming up, I have been a little preoccupied. I thought I would post some of my families recent pictures. Trey and I had the same cow elk permits. I got mine the second weekend we went out. We had a great time. It was really cold and we hiked a ton - but it was still fun to be with Wade and Trey and also Grandpa Huntsman.

Trey's First Hunting Trip

Wade and Trey went hunting for Deer last saturday. This was Trey's first time to actully hunt. They could only shoot bucks, and all they saw were does. I imagine they will be going out again on Saturday. Trey and I will also get to hunt cow elk starting November 1st. Wade all ready got his elk with his bow in September. He got a small 5 point and unfortunately, he forgot his camera. If we are all successful, we will have enough elk meet for the entire family.

We will miss you - Bryce

My brother Bryce passed away on October 8th. He battled brain cancer for almost 18 months. The kids and I arrived at Bryce and Kelli's house on Sunday and were at his bedside when he passed away Monday at 9:30 p.m. It is hard to believe that he is actually gone. Lauren said in her prayer tonight to bless Bryce in his new home. We know he is happy and that he is not suffering anymore. Our prayers are with his wife Kelli and that she can find strength and be happy. Bryce's obituary can be found at hullingermortuary.com. I am posting some pictures that were on his program. Wade designed the cover.

Camping at Star Valley

We spent a few days camping at Star Valley Resort. We purchased a new truck and camper a couple months ago and we were excited to use it before winter. The weather was horrible. We had fun anyway. Trey and Wade got a couple rounds of golf in. The girls and I spent a lot of time in the camper making cards. We made around 30 cards for Aunt Kelli. We knew she would need a lot of Thank you cards. Sunday morning we woke up to about 2 inches of snow. The kids made a really cute snowman on our picnic table. We had a great time.

Trey's 12th Birthday

We spent Trey's birthday camping again at Henry's Lake. Trey wanted to go swimming and get Chinese food. We went into Yellowstone and swam in the Firehole River. Trey had a blast.

We left last Sunday night for Henry's Lake. We had a great time camping except for having a flat tire and Trey getting sick during the night. Wade only caught a couple of fish. We took a drive to the ghost towns of Virginia City and Nevada City. Had New York style pizza in Ennis Montana. Drove into Yellowstone and had a picnic and played in the Madison river. The water was warm. The kids also had a blast riding there bikes up and down the road. It was so much fun we are going back next week.

Wade and Trey went to scout camp last week. Trey is not quite 12, so they let him come up for 3 days. He finished his 2nd and first class and earned 4 merit badges.

Lauren's First Art Show

Lauren has been taking an art class for the past 6 weeks. Today was the last day and the students got to invite their family and friends for an art show. Lauren completed an oil painting that we got to see. Here are some pictures of her and her painting. Dad also gave her some advice on painting. Lauren loved the art class. Her teacher said that she is a perfrectionist (I wonder where who she gets that from).

Today I took the kids to the Splash Park in Rexburg. Lauren and Paige had fun getting wet. Trey sat by me and read his book. He is reading "Red Wall" by Brian Jacques. He is enjoying it. The girls also rode on the Carousel. It was probably close to 100 degrees today.
